Shotgun Qualification

This qualification course has been designed for those with a desire to learn and develop basic skills with a shotgun without being pressured by a large crowd at a club. The ratings only go as high as expert. Meeting the expert, and Distinguished Expert ratings of Trap, Skeet, or 5 stand will earn you the Distinguished Expert Rating for shotgun.

12 gauge or smaller

Any style may be used

Targets

Throwing trap. Minimum 3 feet in front of the shooter

Round

Each round will be 25 targets with one shot each. Single shell loaded at a time.

* Qualification courses of fire are open to everyone - men and women, adults, and youth.

* ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

*ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

Persons with physical disabilities are welcome to participate in the Marksmanship Qualification Program. You may use a nontraditional, adaptive shooting position unique to you.

Shooters acquire the large discipline patch at the onset of the profram and as each rating is earned, they are entitled to all of the corresponding awards for the rating. Each rating level has a skill rocker, medal, and certificate award that recognizes and highlights the achievement.

The courses of fire in the qualification program are designed to take shooters from beginning skill levels (Pro-Marksman, Marksman) through intermediate levels (Marksman 1st Class, Sharpshooter, Expert) up to a nationally recognized skill level -- Distinguished Expert -- the pinnacle of the program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By the time a shooter completes the Distinguished Expert rating, 

he or she has attained a proficiency level paralleling that of a competitively classified Sharpshooter.
